Laboratory grown Diamonds
Laboratory-grown Diamonds (lab-grown) are genuine Diamonds made of pure carbon with the same crystal structure as mined Diamonds. They exhibit the same hardness, brilliance, and optical properties, often making them indistinguishable from natural mined Diamonds to the naked eye without specialized equipment.
How are they made?
Lab-grown Diamonds are produced using advanced technologies that replicate the natural conditions under which Diamonds form:
High pressure, high temperature (HPHT).
A Diamond seed is placed in a chamber with a carbon source and molten metal. Extreme pressure and high temperatures cause carbon to crystalise around the seed, forming a Diamond in days to weeks.
Chemical vapour deposition (CVD).
A Diamond seed is placed in a vacuum chamber filled with carbon-rich gases. Microwave energy ionizes the gases, and carbon atoms deposit layer by layer onto the seed, gradually forming a Diamond.
These methods allow the Diamond to grow in weeks rather than millions of years, while maintaining the same chemical and physical properties as natural Diamonds.
Comparison the natural Diamonds.
Lab-grown Diamonds are chemically, physically, and optically identical to mined Diamonds. They are graded using the same criteria- cut, clarity, colour, and carat weight- unlike simulants such as cubic zirconia or moissanite, Lab-grown Diamonds are authentic Diamonds.
